i’m a little embarrassed to admit that i really couldn’t have picked out the thai language before i landed here. the thai language is all about symbols and tones – five tones to be exact. for example, depending on the way you say “ka” (ka kaa kA Ka KA) — it means five very different things. nuts. oh, and there aren’t “words” so everything looks like one giant word.
it’s been three weeks and i’m proud to say we’ve picked up a few thai words and phrases…
